I had daydreams and fantasies when I was growing up. I always wanted to live in a log cabin at the foot of a mountain. I would ride my horse to town and pick up provisions. Then return to the cabin, with a big open fire, a record player and peace – Linda McCartney
Whether you decide to rent a hotel room or stay in a cabin when visiting Jasper, prepare yourself for an incredible vacation experience. Jasper is an exciting, active community with shops, restaurants, galleries, and museums. The biggest reason people come to the area is of course to witness and experience the natural beauty of the world famous Jasper National Park. If you stay in a cabin when visiting Jasper, you'll get a unique vacation that allows you to immerse yourself in this untouched mountain paradise.
1. Have a True Rocky Mountain Lifestyle Experience
Living and growing up in this area I had no idea how lucky we were to have the forest as our backyard. For people who live in cities or other parts of the world staying in a cabin gives them a chance to experience what it’s like to live in this area and so close to nature. These days it’s easy to have concrete, buildings and shops around you so when you come to Jasper Park why not look out your door to see a mountain instead? Staying in a cabin, like the Overlander’s Jasper Cabins, means being closer to Jasper National Park. In this untouched wilderness, there is a chance to see iconic wildlife like deer, sheep, bear, moose, elk, and eagles.
2. Privacy from neighbors
When staying in a cabin, you won’t share walls with any neighbors, providing an un-crowded experience with plenty of privacy. You can enter and leave your cabin at all hours without worrying about waking up other guests or making your way though a lobby or parking lot. Cabins offer greater autonomy to groups looking for a more independent experience when visiting Jasper.
3. Cook your own mealsOne of the benefits of choosing a cabin when you visit Jasper that you have the option to prepare some of your own meals. Often times traveling I would get tired of always eating restaurants. It’s nice to wake up and make breakfast without having to get completely ready for the day. It also helps you avoid the crowds. Eating out all the time also gets expensive so with a combination of self-catering plus some meals out you can create a balance for your budget and your taste. Staying in a cabin also means you can conveniently store lots of food while you’re away hiking or spending time in town. 4. Enjoy the starsAs the world’s largest dark sky preserve, Jasper offers breathtaking views of the stars. You really have to see it to believe it. Staying outside the town comes with the added bonus of even darker skies. In summer though you’ll have to stay up pretty late. Sometimes it doesn’t get dark till 11:00 PM! Staying in a cabin allows you to step outside at any hour of the night to behold the amazing vista above. There are no buildings to block the view – you’ll be able to enjoy the sky from the leisurely comfort of your patio and take in the full power of stars on your own terms. Growing up here I remember walking home some nights and having my mouth drop with how beautiful it was. 5. Sit Outside and Breath in the Mountain AirYou didn’t travel all this way to stay cooped up in a hotel room right? Step out onto your patio and breath in the fresh air without having to go through a hotel lobby. Have your morning coffee out there. Have your glass of wine. Read your book. Unless it’s raining or you are tired from hiking all day you will want to spend your time enjoying nature and breathtaking rocky mountains. 6. More living space Staying in a cabin means you’ll have more living space than in a hotel room. On days when you’re not hiking in the Jasper park, a cabin can be the perfect place to relax: you’ll be able to stretch out, play cards, read, and enjoy your day in a comfortable space. If you are traveling with a large group a large cabin will give you a chance to spend quality time together versus being separated in two hotel rooms and at a lower price. The size of cabins means that they can sleep more people, enabling groups to split the cost of lodging and still get plenty of space. When you don’t have to rent extra rooms and everyone can gather together more easily.7. The Only Way to Start Your Day
Waking up and seeing mountains and forest will put a smile on your face to start your day. Walk outside, take a deep breath, feel the rising sun on your face and enjoy your much needed vacation. Make your coffee, sit on the porch with your book and journal and slowly begin to wake up. That’s how I started my day living out here for the last 10 years and it’s awesome (not in winter of course). I’d love for you to experience the same.
